Unlike many other coatings, it stands out as a long-lasting material that does not readily crack. Its properties are not lost with the passage of time, and it remains highly resistant to traffic, knocks, scratches and sunlight.
For floors, the price of microcement depends on the area to cover, the complexity of the design and the type of finish desired. In general, microcement flooring ranges between €50 and €100 per square metre. The final cost also depends on the skill and experience of the applicator.
If you have good DIY or plastering knowledge, then yes, you can apply microcement yourself. It is important that every step is followed and that no part of the process is skipped. We normally advise customers when they place an order, and our online tutorial videos can also assist you.
Microcement will very rarely crack on its own. However, significant movement in the substrate beneath it can cause the microcement coating to crack, much like tiles and other bonded flooring systems. We always recommend using reinforcement mesh to help prevent cracking.
Microcement can be repaired easily. Repairs made with Odeco microcement materials are almost invisible, helping to extend the product lifecycle. A well-installed microcement flooring system can have a very long service life of around 50 years or more.
